چکیده
Topological superconductors are predicted to host exotic Majorana states that obey non-Abelian statistics and can be used to implement a topological quantum computer. Most of the proposed topological superconductors are realized in difficult-to-fabricate heterostructures at very low temperatures. Here by using high-resolution spin-resolved and angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, we find that the iron-based superconductor FeTe1-x Se x (x = 0.45, superconducting transition temperature Tc = 14.5 K) hosts Dirac-cone type spin-helical surface states at Fermi level; the surface states exhibit an s-wave superconducting gap below Tc Our study shows that the surface states of FeTe0.55Se0.45 are 2D topologically superconducting, providing a simple and possibly high temperature platform for realizing Majorana states.

متن کاملTopologically protected surface states in a centrosymmetric superconductor β-PdBi2
The topological aspects of electrons in solids can emerge in real materials, as represented by topological insulators. In theory, they show a variety of new magneto-electric phenomena, and especially the ones hosting superconductivity are strongly desired as candidates for topological superconductors. While efforts have been made to develop possible topological superconductors by introducing ca...
متن کاملObservation of the spin-polarized surface state in a noncentrosymmetric superconductor BiPd
Recently, noncentrosymmetric superconductor BiPd has attracted considerable research interest due to the possibility of hosting topological superconductivity. Here we report a systematic high-resolution angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) and spin-resolved ARPES study of the normal state electronic and spin properties of BiPd. Our experimental results show the presence of a surfac...

The mechanism of high-temperature superconductivity in the iron-based superconductors remains an outstanding issue in condensed matter physics. The electronic structure plays an essential role in dictating superconductivity. Recent revelation of distinct electronic structure and high-temperature superconductivity in the single-layer FeSe/SrTiO3 films provides key information on the role of Ferm...
